Have to do it… Moments Caught Photography gets caught up in the KONY 2012 movement… Philadelphia photographer takes action with KONY 2012

I can’t help myself, I admit I’m easily moved. Even more easily moved when my children are the ones who bring something that they care about to my attention as is the case with KONY 2012. We watched the video below as a family, and all felt the same thing… what can we do? You know that frustrating feeling when you care about something so much and for a few minutes think you can be the answer only to a few moments later realize that you have a list a mile long of things that need doing and your just one little person after all. This was different, the call to action was something we all (and especially children) do as easily as breathing these days. Go on facebook, go on twitter, post on your blog, on your tumbler or what ever the next big place to relate to other with happens to be. I can do that… I’m a photographer with 3,000 plus photographer “friends” across the world. I belong to groups, forums, I have clients, family and friends who follow me. No brainer, right? The call to action is simple make this horrific excuse for a man with no respect for human rights let along human beings who chooses to target children; and make him famous. Not famous like Brad Pitt, but famous for his ugliness for his crimes so that we can stop him for good. How… simple, spread the word, spread the video, post away, link to this blog post, link to the next person’s tumbler etc. etc. etc…

You know… my entire being is wrapped up in loving, appreciating, observing and documenting children. More specifically documenting that rare adoration and connection in families. We all don’t have perfect families, or perfect children, but the universal theme in my work and life is appreciating the small things, knowing what really matters, trying to hold on to these precious fleeting years with our children young and carefree, as well as the hope we invest in our children for their future. This man chooses instead to rob these children and families of even the basic joy of a child going to sleep knowing they are loved. I couldn’t agree with my own children more, we must do something and this time we know what to do… Please watch the video (yes, it’s 30 minutes but well worth it) and spread the word any way you can. That’s all, it’s that easy. “Awareness turns into action”

blizzard of 2010 = no power for 4 days! Philadelphia family photographer

Ok, I’m officially over winter, over snow, and over being cold. The last snow storm brought down some huge trees on my street and with it the power. When we finally got power we realized one of the trees also knocked out comcast which means no phones, tv, or internet. Needless to say if you are a client who has tried to contact me I have been MIA, without power I could not charge my cell phone so we had nothing. Now we have a refrigerator filled with food to be trashed, several leaks, a broken jacuzzi (my husband is most upset about this) and at least 4 day’s just wasted. Oh well, keeping it all in perspective is what I do best and this to shall pass. We did have some wonderful moments of bonding with the kids (the first 24 hrs.) we played monopoly and poker by candle light and all snuggled up in my bed to watch a movie on the remaining battery of my laptop. I did go out and take some beautiful snow pictures the morning after the storm and you can even see the evil culprit of the power outage in a few….

Moments Caught Photography is on vacation! Philadelphia family photographer

What a year it has been, and I have you my incredible clients/friends to thank. I can’t thank you enough for letting me into your lives and trusting me to capture your priceless memories. I hope each and every one of you know how much it means to me to be able to be a part of preserving your families history, and how much pleasure I get out of watching your family grow through the years. I am officially on vacation until January 4th so any inquiries from this last week on will all be handled after the 4th! Below I am attaching both copies of my business holiday card and my personal family card to share with all of you. Enjoy and I hope it’s a magical holiday season for you and your loved ones!

My very own! Philadelphia family photographer

I know it’s rare, but this post is from our end of summer vacation in the pocono’s! I had fun experimenting with new lighting techniques, and my kids were actually wiling victims this time.

A rare site around here in recent years

It’s a rare site lately around here, and it was so beautiful that I took my son on a little photo excursion this morning since he had a 2 hr. delay! The cool thing is he appreciated the beauty as much as I did!

Couldn’t resist posting this!

Since all the boy’s in my life are avid skiers and “powder lovers” I shouldn’t be surprised that even my 4 legged little boy loves him some powder. While my husband and son’s were away in Utah on a boy’s only ski weekend we got some of our own powder here in Philly. When I told my husband it had snowed he said, “oh, please take my dog out in the snow and run around with him” in a pleading voice I might add. Here is the proof that I followed directions, otherwise I might be doubted. My little Reggae tearing it up in the snow on Monday…

Oh, and by the way I don’t think there is anything more difficult to photograph than a 7 pound white fluff ball running full speed in 3 inches of white snow at 6:45 pm in Philadelphia… no light, no contras and major motion plus some cold shaking hands by me.

Our family trip to Aruba!

Happy 2009 everyone! I love the start of a new year almost as much as the start of a new school year, a clean slate and endless possibilities! Also a time to take stock in the things that matter most to you, family, friends and health. What a great way for us to end 2008, every year we go away for Christmas vacation with out brother and sister in law and my niece and nephew. We are very blessed to be so close to each other and the kids feel more like siblings than cousins. Here are a few shots from our vacation… Oh and just to clarify, the big kid kite surfing, the flamingos, the iguanas, and the pelicans are not related to us just great photography subjects to keep me occupied.
