The Phillyist Framed Opening Night experience

This was the event I told you about a couple weeks ago where one of my photos was chosen to be displayed in Studio 34. The opening reception was friday night, and was a huge success. The space at studio 34 is just great as you will see in the pictures below, the event was well attended with all different kinds of interesting people/artists as well as their family and friends. On our way home I was compelled to stop and take photos of this incredible church, I can’t wait to do a session with this as the backdrop. Here are a few pictures of my tiny brush with fame.

In the spirit of full disclosure, or partial anyway!

I had a totally new experience the other day and loved it!  I was asked to speak on a local business radio show about photography and more specifically the marketing of Photography.  The station is WWDB 860 AM and the show is called The Marketing of Business.  I have to admit I was scared to death to do it, I don’t love my voice and I speak very fast even when I’m not nervous.  Their were 2 other artists there as well and we ended up having a blast together.  I think we all forgot our nerves and just felt like we were a bunch of girls out to lunch.  The host Sue Rhoades was great at putting us all at ease and so full of personality I told her she should consider a career in comedy.  If you have a chance check out the other 2 women’s work you should.  One is a pet photographer who is in the process of writing an a-z book about dogs, she is unbelievably talented and has a true passion for animals she even has a bed and bisquit (get it like bed and breakfast but for dogs).  Her name is Stacy Morgan and her website is: The other talented, fun woman is Mary Dima and her business (I should say art and passion because that is how I think she views it) is Daroo Designs. Mary paints murals, furniture, she is equally talented at faux as she is at decorative painting. I was blown away by some of the design work she has done. Her work is being shown at the Cape May designer Show house and you can find out all about that and her art by going to her website at:
So you may be wondering where the partial disclosure comes in, well I have no idea how I really did sound and so I’m not telling any of you when this radio show will air just in case my worst fears are true. I’m only sharing that I did this and that I met these fabulous women who you should know about. Sorry, a girl has a right to keep some things to herself. Oh, and sorry no picture with this one, I didn’t bring my camera.

Edited to add that if you want to visit Mary’s business Daroo Design you may have to actually enter into the address bar because I seem to be inept at putting 2 links in a post so only is clickable. I promise my photography skills are better than my blogging skills.

Sneak peak for a great family!

Wow, this session was as challenging as it was rewarding.  The kids ranged in age from 4 months to 15 yrs. old (cousins and siblings).  It was a hot day, but all of the kids and grownups (I might add) were troopers.  The kids all warmed up, and let me see their real personalities and I think we got some great shots that Grandma and Grandpa will love.  Here is your sneak peak, lots more on the way.

I had such a great time with this family!

These guys were like a real modern day brady bunch, but better!  We had such a great time during this photo session.  We met on a HOT almost summer night at one of my personal favorite restaurants to eat at and photograph The Water Works

They had a lot to celebrate, a big anniversary, a Mom’s retirement and Fathers Day!  The kids thought of everything and planned a beautiful evening filled with the kind of laughter and love that every family should have.   Myself being a sappy, romantic, pushover loved every minute of photographing this families antics.  Here is your sneak peak, I have so many incredible moments documented it’s going to be very hard to choose.

I’m a Phillyist Framed photography contest winner!

Well, I never do this… I actually entered one of my photos in a contest and won!  The contest was through a blog all about Philly and the photo contest was focused on showcasing Philadelphia.  Best yet my winning entry is an image of one of my son’s water skiing.  The bad news is my other son is not at all happy that my photo of his brother won and not one of him.  The good news is, he is allowing me to photograph him more in the hopes that a picture of him will win something and be featured in a gallery too.  The opening night for this gallery of images depicting Philadelphia is Friday June 27th and below you can find the info:  Phillyist Framed Opening Night Studio 34 Yoga | Healing | Arts (4522 Baltimore Avenue, upstairs) Friday, June 27, 2008, 7-9PM $5 suggested donation All ages (but we’ll be carding for beer)

I’m hopelessly in love!

I am so behind in posting previews for clients, but I have a really good excuse.  My brother and sister in law just had a baby girl and asked me to fly out to help them out and of course take newborn pictures.  Well this was an offer I just couldn’t refuse, and am glad I didn’t.  I enjoyed every minute of my gorgeous new niece, not to mention the quality time I got to spend with my brother and sister in law.  I also took about 2,000 pictures of this little miracle, so picking which ones to show you guys is really tough.  I think showing all 2,000 might loose a few people.  So here is a sampling of some of my favorites, and I’m sure you will agree that little J is the most beautiful, intelligent, talented, sweet newborn you have ever seen (no bias of course).  Oh, and recent clients I promise by the end of the weekend I’ll have your sneak peaks up!

My own 2 children blessed me with their cooperation… for once

Much as I love taking pictures of everyone else’s children, when my own children decide to allow me to take their photos I am in heaven.  So I apologize ahead of time for posting so many photo’s of my own children, but you will just have to indulge me.  I am also using this blog to share these photos with my family so I do hhave an excuse.  By the way it is rare for me to get a photo with both of my boys actually touching so as you might expect I’m going to get a huge (really huge) canvas of this first one!!!
