a little something sweet to smile about this weekend… main line newborn photographer
September 10, 2010 – 1:02 pm
slow down and look at what is in front of you , a personal post … Main line family photographer
September 7, 2010 – 9:34 pm
Photography started for me as a need to hold on to what was most dear to me in the world, my own children. My obsessive need to freeze what I felt so blessed to have, led me to learn the craft so that I could do justice to the beauty I was witnessing everyday. My photography career quite honestly spiraled out of control, and I was fighting for time to actually just enjoy my own family. The problem is that I honestly love what I do, and love being able to help others to not just preserve moments in their families but to actually see what is right in front of them. I’m not quite sure what the answer is, or how to achieve the correct balance. I know that I not only want to keep photographing families, but I have to… it’s just a part of me now. I also want to make sure not to neglect my own family, and so am going to start laying down some structure and boundaries where business is concerned.
Part of this revelation came to me while on a much needed vacation with my boy’s these last 2 week, we spent wonderful quality time together and of course I got the chance to get my camera on their beautiful, dark, soulful eyes that speak to me always without words. I actually took some portraits of them, which is not what I usually focus on as many of you may know. My normal goal is to capture “moments” but they are growing up and I wanted something different. It’s also a little difficult right now because my older son shares my artistic nature and passion, so we start getting into conversations about light and shadow and the little one starts tuning out and feeling left out at the same time. Oh the fun of same sex children at different stages. We are watching my older son become a man before our eyes and for each of us it’s both exciting and difficult to see. My younger son, feels more distance between them and is not enjoying being the “little brother” at the moment. I think my husband is having a hard time realizing that as he is getting older and a little less able to push his body the way he would like, his son is becoming stronger and more capable by the day. For me well, I miss my little boy who used to be so proud to say we were like twins we were so alike, I miss his snuggles, I miss being able to just play with his hair and listen to him babble. At the same time… I really like who he is, I mean I would pick him as a friend. We share common interests, and really have the same core values, oh… and I could stare at him all day, I find him just breathtaking in the way that only a mother can. Now my little guy… trying so hard to keep up, to grow up and yet somehow reveling in being the baby. Still so sensitive, but trying to be so tough. It’s not easy to be the younger brother. I just love to see his spirit, the way his mind works… so much like my husbands it amazes me all the time and the dimples… I hope they never go away. He still lets me snuggle, he pretends to mind but I know better. It’s funny but in these pictures I can see everything I just described, I’m sure part of that is that they allow me to see into their souls but to me it’s just priceless… Oh, and some of these are just fun shots from vacation and many more are on the way I just wanted to put these out there while the feelings were still fresh. Did I mention that my oldest started high school today, where has the time gone?
ps. please excuse any grammatical errors in this post, when I write from the heart I don’t stop to sensor it’s just not how I’m wired.

You can really feel the love in this family… LBI beach photo’s
August 29, 2010 – 7:08 pm
As many of you may know, my business tag line is “images you can feel” and if this family was to have a tag line it should be “love you can feel”. I am able to get the best pictures when a family really lets me in, taking pictures of someones family can be a very intimate experience if your eyes and heart are open (and I have a difficult time closing mine). I thank you again “A” family for really letting me see the strong connections between all of you. I left the session feeling that this family has everything that really matters, and I get the feeling they know it! PS. the two girls are twins, and the twin magic was very evident between these 2 best friends!

best part of my job is watching them grow… Philadelphia family photographer at the beach
August 25, 2010 – 6:55 pm
Yes, it’s true one of my favorite parts of being a family photographer is watching little ones grow up. My 2nd favorite thing is getting to meet the rest of the family, in this case all 20 something of them at once. They all gathered in Ventnor NJ to celebrate Pop-Pop’s big birthday so getting a family photo was a natural. Just before the whole group shot, I got to spend some time with the part of the family that brought me there to begin with. It was great to see all of them again and to meet my little helper (big brother).

Thank goodness they are soooooo cute! Jersey shore beach sessions…
August 21, 2010 – 12:01 pm
You may remember these adorable twin girls from their spring session which was a surprise for Fathers Day to the new Dad! Well, fast forward to now and they are 6 month’s worth of cuteness! This time we were doing a beach shoot and including Dad which I think is so important. I promised “A” that it gets easier, I remember very well what twin babies on the beach was like from my own experience with my niece and nephew many moons ago. It’s not easy schlepping all of that beach gear to the beach, plus the baby essentials while keeping an eye out for little hands grabbing fists filled with sand aimed straight at the mouth. Any experienced mom knows exactly what they will find in the diaper after a day filled with ingesting sand on the beach. I watched these 2 new parents in action and thought to myself… thank goodness they are sooooooooooo cute! I included two bloopers in this sneak peak because to me that’s the fun part. One I will call “high tide” for the image where Mom and Dad grabbed the twins as the tide came rushing up to them, and the other I will call ” patience and love” because that is what I see on Dad’s face while both girls start crying because we pulled their hands filled with sand out of their little mouths. Enjoy the sneak peak, I know I’m enjoying watching these two beauties grow up!

As wonderful as they are gorgeous! … Main line family photographer at the Jersey shore for beach sessions…
August 17, 2010 – 12:14 pm
Not quite sure what is in the water where they live, but each child is just beyond beautiful on the inside and outside. Between the unbelievable curls of the little princess in the family to the gorgeous blue eyes of 2 of the brothers to the adorable dimples that the middle brother has… WOW! With parents as real, and nice as both of these I truly wasn’t surprised at what great kids they are raising. The ultimate for me was when the oldest child said to me, “this is the most fun I’ve ever has with my whole family”! That is what I strive for… to make the session fun, so that the true personalities of my subjects is able to translate into an image. Many times I have had families tell me that the session was a bonding experience for them. It think when you stop and take a look at your own family through the eyes of the photographer/lens you sometimes get a chance to see things you may take for granted in the hectic craziness of everyday life. I get the feeling that this family is well aware of how blessed they are even without my lens on them.

100% sweetness… Philadelphia newborn photographer
August 14, 2010 – 12:13 pm
I’m still melting from the sweetness of this new little miracle. I shouldn’t be surprised at all, after spending a little time with her proud parents who are ridiculously in love with each other and their new baby girl. If you know me at all, you know that I do more than just take pictures… I can read people rather quickly, which enables me to focus on bringing out the real essence in my families. One thing that struck me right off the bat, was how comfortable these two new parents are with their new roles as Mommy and Daddy. I think that babies really feel the demeanor of their parents and little “C” was so calm, peaceful and just so lovely (I know strange word, from me but it fits). If your a friend or family of the K’s consider yourself lucky, these are just “good people”. I loved meeting your new bundle of love and look forward to documenting many more milestones in your life! Enjoy the sneak peak!!
